I've gotten killed several times when I accidentally vault on objects. Some people suggest having two different buttons for jump and vault. What if we have hold space (jump) to vault instead? We don't have to assign another key and vaulting is not done as frequently as jumping anyway. Also, we already have hold space for hold breadth, so it makes some sense to apply it to vaulting as well. Thoughts?

Agreed F to vault.
This was actually a early problem with Call Of Duty in 1 & 2 you would accidentally vault on things and completely blow your cover in a mini battle. In CoD4 it was moved to F and everyone lived happily ever after the end.

It would be worth a try. Something needs to be done. It's easier to accidentally vault something than it is to vault something right in front of you.

Holding jump or moving it to the action key would make sense.

I like it.. space bar jump and hold breath.. action key vaults. However you may go to pickup a gun near a ledge and find yourself on the other side of it..

Holding the button, regardless of what it is, may be the best bet. Action key already does a ton of stuff. Otherwise, just make it so that you can't vault unless you're in fast moving mode. If you want to make sure that you aren't going to vault when you pick stuff up, switch to tactical mode.

The action key is already used for so many things. Moreover, the vault action is almost magnetic. I can be a couple of feet from an object and be drawn to it.

When you're doing stuff quickly, the text prompt won't help much. As I said, make vaulting impossible in tactical mode, then move it to action key. Problem solved.
