We have been working on retooling "Hardcore" to be more truly comp focused.
I want to hear from you comp guys what you think the settings should be.

We are only talking settings here and not new features / control panels / etc.
Please stick to setting requests.

Here's what we are thinking so far:

No revive period
Bodies vanish instantly, no more 3 second delay
No spotting

Your suggestions:

Not more then 3/4 min per round - waNteeed

Tournament Mode just like in the old AA2 time.
Game only starts once both team captains click ready
option to discard rounds

those are two critical issues that we dont have answer for right now im sure more people will add more stuff

Those are both features, I'm asking for settings.
We very much want to add this type of stuff after launch, but right now we're trying to do what we can in the launch window.

While I also think it should be done with the current server settings, I definitely feel round times should be adjusted down 60-90 seconds for Classic Mode.

Maybe something like:

TimeLimitOverrideBDX=180
TimeLimitOverrideFLO=210

unless map-by-map times become an option.



No grenade delays.

ForbidGrenadeTimeFLO=0
ForbidGrenadeTimeBDX=0



Comp generally plays with the player count on, but I'm not sure if that's something you're willing to consider or if there'd even be an interest in it.

Is "classic mode" going to replace the bHardcoreMode= line in the ini or will this just be servers set up a certain way? Will having any server set to 0 revives make bodies immediately disappear?

What do you mean by "no grenade delays"?

Classic will replace Hardcore, yes.

I believe by default there's a delay at the start of the round before you can pull the pin on a grenade.

Some settings call for global VOIP to be disabled.

Friendly fire is penalized with a dead teammate, not a server kick.
bReduceFriendlyFire=false
bDisableROE=true

An 8v8 option would be great for maps like Inner Hospital or Harbor Assault.


I think it'd be tough to make friendly fire easier in open pub servers.
