We have received a few request for the formula used to calculate honor level, so here it is:
*The formula may change when the beta period ends

From levels 1 to 20:
XP required for next level = 2500 * current level * (current level^1.5)

From level 21 to 30:
XP required for next level = (2500 * current level * (current level^1.5))*(current level/19)

Starting at level 31 the curve becomes linear. From level 32 to 99 exactly two million XP is required to advance from level to level.

Level 100 requires a bit more XP to reach (4.5 million compared to 2 million).

This produces the following level chart:
Level XP
1 0
2 2500
3 14,142
4 38,971
5 80,000
6 139,754
7 220,454
8 324,105
9 452,548
10 607,500
11 790,569
12 1,003,279
13 1,247,077
14 1,523,345
15 1,833,412
16 2,178,553
17 2,560,000
18 2,978,944
19 3,436,539
20 3,933,906
21 4,707,512
22 5,584,110
23 6,571,519
24 7,677,748
25 8,910,986
26 10,279,605
27 11,792,154
28 13,457,351
29 15,284,088
30 17,281,419
31 19,500,000
32 - 99 19,500,000 + (2,000,000 * (level - 31))
100 160,000,000

It was actually really cool in AAO where 90 honor was half way to 100. If you want more of a smooth curve go for it. I do think that 100 should be achievable in maybe 3000 or 4000 hours (random #).

Personally, the max honor should be something where you figure out the average score per player per hour and multiply it by the amount of hours you want that player to reach 100 honor. Maybe push it a bit higher if you want players on the higher end of that scale to get there slower.

I took the top 10 points list and the average was about 16K points per hour played. Let's say that's the average for all AAPG players. If you want it to take 3000 hours for the average player to reach 100 honor, then it should take 48,000,000.

Anyway, at the rate we have it now, that average player with the 160M point level would take 10,000 hours. That's crazy. It would take someone playing for 9 hours a day for 3 straight years to get to 100 honor. I would at least half it.

Actually it sounds about right.. why half it? at least you have something to play for without making another account.. In AAO I played for 6 yrs and only reached level ~93 which is 10x better than having 100 honor in 5 months of AA3

I remember people reaching 100 within a few years. To me three years or so would be a good amount of time, unless they just want it to be a never ending chase.

I don't plan on ever reaching honor 100, but if I do then I would be more depressed than honored.

I think a cool system that could be unique is "stripes" or whatever based off of a combination of KDR, Hours played, Honor, Head shot percentage and more. I think that it could be a neat little wrinkle for the game.

The AAOTracker ranking system was cool. I also think AA could use a better progression system.
