I have been putting together a Alcatraz map and just recently ran into a problem where a floor texture has turned black. It is fine without the shadows on, but when I rebuild the map and select dynamic lighting the bottom of the brush turns black and the sides of the brush have lighting on them. I've tried adding a light but it doesn't do anything. Anyone know of a fix?

I'm assuming this is the face of a BSP brush in UE3. If that is the case, select the BSP face (it should highlight) and press F5 to bring up the "Surface Properties" window. With the black BSP face selected make sure that in the "Lighting" section that all the check boxes for "Accept Lights", "Dynamic Lights" and "Force Lightmap" all have a check mark in the box. After that make sure to "Rebuild Geometry" in the UE3 editor to make sure that the editor updates these changes to the BSP face. Hopefully this helps.

didn't do anything for me. What did work for some strange reason was on the surface properties checking portal, rebuilding the map, then un-checking portal, then building the map again. Don't know why but it did.

Very strange, but it's good that it's fixed now.
