Lately I've been testing few free games like District 187, Blacklight, Wareface and what I did find was that these games, created by big names, aren't better than AA3. When i play/ed AA3, AA2 i feel the game, i talk to people and have a better gaming experience. AA games aren't only fps, but are Social Hubs as well. You can use voice chat, write in chat , Talking to the people the time goes on well, you don't feel the remaining seconds/minutes after you die. I did not find this kind of experience in any of these games that i mentioned above.
Wareface is built in cryengine3 , and the lag is terrible sometimes. There are no dedicated servers etc.
I hope AA4 keeps these values of being not only a game, but social friendly as well.

I agree with you on that. I really like the social friendly aspect that AA has created. I tried those games you listed but nothing compares to the AA community..

The success depends on the community of the game. We have here a global "AA-Family", we stick together and trying our best to push the game. In my opinion AA was more successful than titles like BF, MoH or CoD, because (as you said) I feel the game.
And thats the reason why I still play AA since 2003. Its just fun to speak to ppl from another nation and play with/against them.

I tested too other free games with my clan (ALL THE GAMES) because we dislike AA3. In our clan we played only AA2, no other games (70 members). After the "death" of AA2 we were in search of another game like AA2, waiting for the developers of America's Army did a new AA4 with a gameplay like the BIG, BEST, AND ONLY ONE AA2.
...but we have no found a game even minimally like it... because they are all "profit" game. So now we play Counter Strike....

Right now we are still playing : ARMA2 wasteland mod and ARMA3 alpha Great games but a bit too involved if you ask me....nothing like spending 3-4 hours building a base and massing weapons caches to either get raided by tanks or the server restarted...losing it all.
