That's too bad. That leaves out alot of us. I was in the Army '88 to '98. Anyone have email in '98? I didn't.

By the way, you don't have to be in the military to get a .mil address. You can be a DA civilian employee, for example, and get a .mil address.

I hope the criteria will be reconsidered.

I got out of the Marine Corps in '86.
Email didn't exist in those days. (or cell phones for that matter)
I could show you my DD214, VA loan Certificate, promotion warrants, photos, drivers license, social security card etc, etc......

But......you know what......I won't allow my service to this country to be degraded by something as trivial as a game icon.

I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone.

I fail to see how hard it is to select the "I don't have a mail.mil account" option which begins the manual process.

I would like retract the statement I made above this post.
Once Phoenix got the kinks worked out of the system getting the Veteran icon was quite simple.

Anyone that finds it difficult to obtain the Veteran icon, either in-game or on the forum, either lacks the ability to follow simple instructions or hasn't received it for "other" reasons.

It's been nice to have people say Thank You for your service.
Even though mine ended many, many years ago.
