I noticed this morning my MacBook pro touch pad was off kilter and you couldn't do a button press. At first i thought it was dropped and was about to go on a witch hunt to see "who" did it. I then noticed that it didn't sit level on the table either.

On closer observation, I realized the PowerBook case was bulging out top and bottom and this was causing the touch pad problem too. I've come to the realization that this bulge is right where the battery is located and I must have experienced a catastrophic battery failure. I've seen this happen in a cell phone before and the battery blows up like a balloon.

So the Mac went to the basement in case it decides to explode and I have an appt. with Mac resource tomorrow. I'm sure Apple will say the warranty is over and it's not covered. A new battery is like $120 US but I'm afraid the bulge may have damaged other things like the motherboard.

Anyone know a good price for batteries and a good site to fix it myself if I must?
